Study on Somatosensory Evoked Potential in Normal Korean Adult

Abstract
Somatosensory Evoked Potential is helpful in evaluating the function of nerve conduction of spinal cord and above.
With DISA 1500 EMG System, both posterior tibial nerves were stimulated separately in 20 Korean adult who showed no evidence of abnormality in central and peripheral nervous system; and SEP was recorded at the scalp. The results are as follows.
1. Ten males and ten females with age of 19-54 years were studied.
2. There was no significant difference between the left and the right side.
3. Latencies of Po, Pi, Ni, P2, and N2 were 32.3¡¾1.14 msec, 37.4¡¾1.84 msec, 46.2¡¾2.56 msec, 57.6¡¾2.94 msec, 72.7¡¾5.24 msec respectively.
4. Amplititudes of PoP1, PiPi, NIP2, and P2N2were 3.21¡¾1.40 microvolt, 54.1¡¾1.85 microvolt, 4.21¡¾1.64 microvolt, and 5.6¡¾2.55 microvolt.
5. P3 was inconsistent or irregular in shape in majority of cases.
